Spot a diploma mill in three easy steps!

Diploma mills are a hot topic these days, since everybody is looking for easily obtainable verifiable degrees from schools, even if they those schools aren't quality schools or even recognizable schools.

A diploma mill is essentially a made up University or College, offering degrees from their schools. BUT because the school has no actual coursework or standards, they area able to present a degree to anybody who asks. There have been many efforts to shut down diploma mills throughout the years, but many diploma mills pose as respectable colleges, trying to make themselves seem legit to those interested in obtaining an online degree; even if it's trough an online diploma mill operation.

Diploma mills get shut down every few months for making false promises to their buyers and present unaccredited degrees, although they advertise like they, stating that the degrees are accredit; a 100% lie. The fact is on, only so many accreditation's are worthy of being recognized, although there are many made-up accreditation that hold little to no value outside of the diploma mill itself.

To protect yourself, there are a few ways to spot a diploma or degree mill.

1. Is the school it's pretending to be listed in a national database of accredited schools.

School names are listed in a national database but diploma mills use fake school names like "McAllister College" or "Williams-Clark University". The names appear to be real or official, but open further inspection, one quickly realizes that they are fake. When others spot the difference with fake school names, the gag is up!

2. They want you to take a test.

The test isn't administered and anybody can pass it. They'll ask you a few simple questions and if you get them wrong, often, they'll give you the answers and allow you to take the test again, guaranteeing that you will pass it.

The main negative with a diploma mill is that you are investing in a school that has no reputation, no respect among others. It is only a matter of time before somebody recognizes the name being associates with a diploma mill and everything is over.
